All the recent election coverage has made me reflect on our current President. None of the current candidates appear to be what our country really needs but if they’re any better than Bush it’s a good start toward rebuilding our shattered global image. How did our country get to where it is right now? This is a list I compiled of what I believe are George W. Bush’s top 10 mistakes. There are a lot more than 10 but everyone seems to like nice even numbers.

Number 10 - July 6, 1946

Bush makes a forced exit from his mother’s womb. She is quoted as saying, “If he’s this stubborn coming out of me I’ll hate to see how stubborn he is later in life.” Little did she know how right she would be…

Number 9 - May 9, 2001

Bush limits government funding of embryonic stem cell research to “existing lines” only. This drastically reduces the amount scientists can do in trying to find ways to cure many diseases and injuries. Bush does this because frozen embryos that would be destroyed anyway are people and shouldn’t be experimented on. Another win for the religious right. Another loss for society as a whole.

Number 8 - November 13, 2001

Bush decrees that any foreigner deemed an enemy combatant will be tried in military tribunals. Detainees are never told what they are charged with so they have no way of defending themselves.

Number 7 - May 29, 2003

While giving a speech in Poland Bush announces that we have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and anyone that says otherwise is wrong.

Number 6 - March 9, 2006

Bush signs the PATRIOT act re-authorization and extensions into law. This makes even more of the Bill of Rights null and takes us one step closer losing everything America has stood for.

Number 5 - May 1, 2003

Bush dresses up in a flight suit and lands on an aircraft carrier in one of the most disgusting photo ops ever staged. He gives a speech saying that military operations in Iraq have been successful while standing in front of a giant “Mission Accomplished” banner. As of today the mission is still not accomplished and Bush hasn’t worn a flight suit since.

Number 4 - October 26, 2001

What’s worse that extending the PATRIOT act? Signing the damn thing into law to begin with. The PATRIOT act was Bush and Cheney’s wet dream and they used the fear of 9/11 to push it though congress. Its very hard to find anyone that voted for it that actually read it. Its truly a sad state of affairs when our government suspends our rights without even reading what they are doing.

Number 3 - October 17, 2006

Bush signs the Military Commissions Act of 2006 into law effectively suspending Habeas Corpus. American citizens and foreign enemy combatants can be jailed and tried without any right to fight their unlawful imprisonment.

Number 2 - August 29, 2005

The Bush administration is told that levees have failed in New Orleans the city is flooding. Despite many desperate calls for help from Louisiana’s governor Bush waits 2 full days before forming a government task force to respond to the disaster. Massive looting has already taken over the city and thousands are trapped with little food and water. Bush later tells FEMA director Michael Brown he’s doing a “heck of a job” while thousands are still fighting to survive in the aftermath.

Number 1 - March 16, 2003

Bush orders the invasion of Iraq to begin. Under the pretense of an imminent threat from weapons of mass destruction Bush gains approval for the invasion in the media and government. Dick Cheney put pressure on the CIA to approve questionable intelligence which was then passed onto us as facts. These would later be proven false and weapons of mass destruction have yet to be found almost 5 years later. Total “coalition” deaths now stand at over 4200.

Well thats my opinion of Bush’s top 10 mistakes. I would like to point out that his mom never said that but I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s thinking it right now. See anything big that I missed? Post a comment and if I feel something is worth being put on the list I will update it.

WELL YOU’D PROBLEY BE DEAD BY NOW IF IT WAS’NT FOR OUR TROOPS KILLING OFF THE TERRIORIST IN IRAQ. SO BEAT YOUR IGNORANT HEAD AGAINST THE WALL. IT SOUNDS LIKE A BETTER IDEA, INSTEAD OF MAKING SOMEONE SOUND BAD DUE TO YOUR IGNORANCE.

There is, of course, an entire universe of choices here. The Bush Administration is a a pure catalogue of catastrophically bad decisions and incompetent administration. I would add two, however, to the top ten list: 1. Massive tax cuts for the rich; and 2: Opposition to the science of global warming and total failure to act. Really, though, the list is endless. The brain-dead asshole cowboy administration.

I don’t know if Michael Schmitz’s post is being serious or not…

Ahhh, Michael schmitz : Another Bush follower who wears blinkers to the real world manufactured by Bush and Co
